We wanted an escape, so we built one.

YAASA started with a craving. We kept looking for a West African spot that fit the way we eat in New York: full of flavor, made fresh, made quick. We never found the one we pictured, so we built it ourselves, at 212 E 45th Street

THE ROOM

Part KITCHEN.
Part gallery.

We wanted more than a counter. The room is inspired by the small boutiques of SoHo, with modern African art created for us by South African artist Kaya Teme, and African music in the air all day.

THE FOOD

Made from scratch, every morning.

We blend our own spices, marinate overnight, and cook everything fresh each day. At the heart of it are our three warm toppings; Yaasa, Mafé and Ratatouille, simmered slow and ladled hot over every plate, straight from the pot, like a home cooked meal.
